First Gala - Friday -
page 1

Ska, our wonderful ringmaster, introduced the acts (shown in these
pages nearly in order of appearance). Right - with Carola
Casselly.

Sonia - David Fox's pupil - gave the first performance. At the ICC in
2000 we had seen a video showing her amazing rate of progress in
contortion. This time she was an accomplished little performer, with a
presence and a style all of her own. She communicated her sense of
herself and her personality in a way which was outstanding for someone
so young. Communicating a sense of oneself in this way, and a sense of
one's own body awareness, are essential elements of a successful
contortion act.
